Is the iPAD useful for photographers?

I was motivated to get the iPad by an article in dpreview.com.  Now after using the iPad for several months, I have some comments.  It is slick, and it does some things well, but overall I am disappointed.  In summary:
Pros:
1.    Good for email
2.    Good display for showing photographs (jpg files)
3.    Good for making notes
4.    Good for keeping a calendar
5.    Fairly good for web browsing
6.    Instant on and no big transformer to carry around.

All of these features are available on the iPod Touch that fits in my pocket, except the iPod’s screen is smaller.
Cons:
1.    Cannot show RAW photos and does not keep metadata or even file names.
2.    No ability to organize photos except that different folders can be created on a PC before syncing with the IPad – an app permits organization of files but limits displays of panoramas.
3.    Many useful things online cannot be displayed because Flash is not supported.  For example:  Members galleries for some photographer’s organizations, many Youtube videos, many videos associated with news programs, some picture gallery slideshows on dpreview.com, etc.
4.    Memory is too small to be useful for storing photos on trips.
5.    Cannot read or write from memory cards or external hard disks.  An optional attachment permits jpg photos to be uploaded.
6.    Doesn’t appear to do Skype - which iPod Touch does!
7.    Built-in camera is not as good as the camera on the iPhone.
8.    Is missing the built-in clock, calculator, and weather that are on the IPod Touch.  Optional apps can do these things.

On photo shoots, I leave the iPad at home and carry my iPod Touch and a netbook computer with an extra 250 GB portable hard disk.  I upload my memory cards each night to the netbook and back them up on the hard drive.

It is not obvious to me that any of the current pads from other manufacturers are better overall than the iPad, but USB ports and Flash compatibility would certainly be good features to have.  I think that the iPad, at present, has the best user interface, the most apps, and by far the most customers. However, I am keeping my eye on the new crop of Android pads.

Last minute update:  I am using the photo sharing site 500px.com, and photographs on that site are displayed beautifully on the iPad.
Comments:

My iPad 2 does display raw files. I only shoot in raw. At the end of the day I copy my shots to the iPad, so I can see them large. Then, I delete them. I use the optional camera-to-ipad cable to do the transfer. However, I am disappointed that it does not allow someone to view all the photos on the camera on the ipad without having to transfer or copy them to the ipad first. Hopefully, that will come in the future.
